Chinese restaurant workers chase off knife-wielding robber

This fool brought a knife to a soup ladle fight.

This guy messed with the wrong takeout joint. Earlier this month in Brooklyn, workers at a Chinese restaurant chased off a knife-wielding man who police say is wanted in connection with a robbery spree.

Police: Masked Robber Wielding Large Knife Targets Brooklyn Businesses

On January 4, a hooded masked man walked into Chen's Garden in East New York and pulled out a large knife from his waistband, demanding money from the restaurant's employees.

Surveillance video shows the would-be robber hopping on to the counter. That's when the workers fought back, picking up and swinging anything in arm's reach -- including a soup ladle and a stool. Everybody knows that a mere knife is no match for a Chinese guy with a soup ladle.

No doubt freaked out by the unexpected display of not-taking-your-shit and get-the-hell-out-of-here, the suspect fled the restaurant empty handed. Sometimes, you know you've already lost.

The entire 30-second incident was caught on camera:

NYPD accused of cover-up in fatal patrol car collision

Video footage suggests police are lying about the crash that killed pedestrian Ryo Oyamada

In case you weren't sufficiently angry at bad police... Last year in New York City, a Japanese student was struck and killed by a police patrol car while crossing the street. The victim's family and community members have pressed authorities for the truth about the accident, to no avail. But newly released security camera footage appears to show that the NYPD is lying about the crash and may have tried to cover up the incident.

Video Points To NYPD Cover-Up After Cop Fatally Ran Over Pedestrian

On February 21, 2013, 24-year-old Japanese student Ryo Omayada was killed by an NYPD cruiser as he was crossing the street in Queens. The police report claims that the patrol car, driven by Officer Darren Ilardi, was responding to a 911 call and had its emergency lights and sirens activated at the time of impact. However, witnesses say the cruiser's lights were not turned on until after the collision.

Newly released video from NYC Housing security cameras in the area appears to contradict the NYPD's account and strongly suggests a coverup in the response to Oyamada's death. Gothamist breaks down the footage, edited from two different cameras:

File Under Badass: Gas station clerk thwarts robbery with mixed martial arts

These thieves picked the wrong gas station. The one with a MMA fighter working behind the counter.

Crime doesn't pay. In fact, sometimes it hurts like a kick in the face. Some would-be thieves in Houston learned that the hard way when they tried to rob a gas station employee... and got their asses kicked by a convenience store clerk who also happens to be a muthaeffin' mixed martial arts fighter.

Gas station clerk with MMA training surprises thieves

Mayura Dissanyake was working behind the counter at Fuel Depot when he saw two men outside jump out of an SUV and attack his co-worker, who was returning to the store after a run to the bank. Dissanyake, who is trained in mixed martial arts and apparently was a champion in Sri Lanka, sprung into action.

"The first guy I saw, I just kicked him in the face. Then I punched the other guy."

An effective strategy. Let's go to the tape:
