Dogs in a Chinese restaurant? It's not what you think.

But the San Antonio Express-News led many to believe a Chinese eatery was serving up something gross.

Over the weekend, the San Antonio Express-News posted a bland weekly roundup on local restaurant inspections. One of them included an area Chinese restaurant, Lee's Garden Chinese Restaurant, where an inspector saw a dog on the premises. Like, somebody's pet. Perhaps not particularly sanitary, depending on where the dog was hanging out, but whatever. It got the necessary citation.

However, when the restaurant inspection report was posted to the San Antonio Express-News' Facebook page on Saturday, they used the headline "Inspectors Find Dogs in Chinese Restaurant" accompanied by a photo of food. The insinuation, of course, is that the Chinese restaurant was caught serving dog meat.

When you click through to the article, the actual headline on mysanantonio.com simply reads "San Antonio restaurant inspections: February 17, 2017." The report notes that "roaches and dogs were seen in the establishment." And that's it. (Okay, the roaches are gross.) That was apparently all they needed to put together a racist, misleading Facebook post. Guaranteed to get some clicks.

Of course, nobody actually reads anything. The misleading headline inspired a deluge of Facebook comments along the lines of "Ooh hell no I just had Chinese last night... Mfs trynna kill us" and "Fuck Chinese lol."

Elderly woman attacked by police dog in her own backyard

Coon Rapids Police mistook 81-year-old Choua Xiong for a burglar.

In Minnesota, community members are demanding answers and accountability from the Coon Rapids Police Department after an elderly Hmong woman was attacked and bitten by a police K-9 in her own backyard.

Coon Rapids police unleash dog on 82-year-old grandma cleaning her shed

81-year-old Choua Xiong was doing some work in her backyard shed early Sunday morning when officers, responding to a burglary call, unleashed a police dog on her. Note: she was in her own shed, in her own backyard. Xiong suffered bites to her arm and was hospitalized.

Police say officers received a 911 call from a woman who said she saw an intruder in a black coat in her backyard, and heard a loud noise coming from somewhere in the back of her residence. Officer arrived on the scene and spotted someone in a shed next door with a flashlight.

Suspecting a burglary was underway, they yelled to the shed and ordered the "suspect" to come out, but got no response. So they unleashed to police dog to take down whoever was inside.

The "suspect" turned out to be Xiong. She apparently does not speak English, is hard of hearing, and didn't understand the officer's commands. Congratulations, officers. You and your friggin' attack dog just busted an 81-year-old grandma "intruding" on her own property.

Misguided Protesters Target NYC's Chinatown Over Dog Meat Festival in China

Since 2009, one festival in China has caused a stir in the animal rights community. The festival -- the Yulin Lychee and Dog Meat Festival -- was inaugurated that year, and immediately resurrected controversy over the ethics of consuming dog meat. Pictures of dogs crammed into tiny wire cages have shocked netizens for the last several years, along with reports that as many as 10,000 dogs are slaughtered annually at the festival.

The festival -- which is not sanctioned by the local government -- is intended to celebrate a centuries-old tradition in parts of China where dog meat is considered a delicacy. Government officials insist that the festival is attended by a small minority of local residents. This doesn't stop outraged animal rights activists, however, from protesting the festival as outrageous and unethical.

Mike Huckabee thinks he's funny, tweets racist dog joke

"I trust Bernie Sanders with my tax dollars like I trust a North Korean chef with my labrador!"

I considered simply titling this post "Fuck You, Mike Huckabee." But that's just a regular, everyday sentiment. This post concerns a joke that the Republican presidential candidate posted during Tuesday night's Democratic debate. On Twitter, the former Arkansas made a racist crack while criticizing Senator Bernie Sanders:

A dramatic development in "Poopgate"... The mayor of San Marino, California has officially resigned, bowing to public outcry after he was caught on video tossing a bag of dog waste onto his neighbor's property.

San Marino mayor resigns after being censured over dog poop incident

Mayor Dennis Kneier was caught on surveillance video throwing bag of crap onto the walkway of his neighbor, Philip Lao, earlier this month. Lao believes this was no accident -- it was dog shit retribution. He claims mayor was upset with him for placing a "NO POOP ZONE" sign outside of his home, as well as his opposition to a proposed dog park nearby. He shared the video publicly, and the footage went viral.

Ten days after the incident, Kneier resigned.

Meet the Asian Jon Snow from Game of Thrones

Send me photos of your awesome Halloween costumes!

This one is for all you fans of Game of Thrones. Here is a nice photo of Robert, who costumed himself as Jon Snow, bastard son of Lord Ned Stark of Winterfell, from the popular HBO fantasy drama -- complete with a direwolf. Actually, what completes his Halloween look is that always-about-to-cry expression on his face, as one Reddit commenter points out. Nailed it.

What costume are you rocking this Halloween? Send me photos of your awesome costumes. I'll compile the best ones for my annual costume gallery. But only if they're awesome! It goes without saying, but I don't want to see any sexy geishas or chop suey specs, ya hear?

UPDATE: Here is a video of Asian Jon Snow trying to train his disobedient direwolf:

Hero dog dies while protecting child from oncoming car

An Atlanta family mourns the loss of a loyal seeing-eye dog.

Oh man. Getting a little choked up reading this story out of Atlanta about a guide dog that was struck by a car and fatally injured, but saved the life of his owner's child: Guide dog dies after saving owner's child.

On Monday, David Furukawa, who is legally blind, was walking his 4-year-old son William to school with the help of his seeing-eye dog Simon. They were crossing the street when a car ran a stop sign and plowed into them, striking Furukawa and the 80-pound boxer.

But according to witnesses, Simon jumped up and pushed William out of the path of the car.
