The Netflix road rage drama Beef cleaned up with historic big wins at the Golden Globe Awards on Sunday night, taking home trophies for Best Limited Series, and Best Actor and Actress for Steven Yeun and Ali Wong.

Coronavirus is coming to get these little white kids.

Coronavirus rumors lead some parents to keep kids home from school
In Southern California, freaked out parents at a Newport Beach elementary school are reportedly keeping their children home amid demands that the school district examine new transfer students for coronavirus infection. A rumor has apparently spread among parents that several new students -- possibly from foreign countries affected by the contagion -- are on their way to Newport Coast Elementary. Cue the pandemic panic.

Quibi Sets "Woke" Japanese Game Show 'Let's Go Atsuko!'
Comedian Atsuko Okatsuka, one of the funniest people I know, is bringing her twerk-friendly comedy to Quibi with her woke Japanese game show appropriately titled Let's Go Atsuko! In the new series, Game master Okatsuka will lead two civilian contestants through the surreal universe inside her grandma's fridge. In every episode, each contestant -- perhaps unwisely -- will tell Okatsuka one thing they love and one thing they fear. These facts can and will be used against them to create tailor-made challenges that test the players' "street smarts." I guess I need to figure out what Quibi is.

'Always Be My Maybe' is best enjoyed in a big loud theater

At long last! The romantic comedy Always Be My Maybe, starring Randall Park and Ali Wong, hits select theaters in ten cities today, May 29, before dropping on Netflix everywhere this Friday, May 31.

Directed by Nahnatchka Khan, and co-written by Park, Wong and Michael Golamco, Always Be My Maybe centers on Sasha and Marcus, childhood best friends who have a falling out. Reuniting fifteen years later, Sasha is now a successful celebrity chef opening a restaurant in San Francisco while Marcus is a happily struggling musician still living at home with his dad. The old sparks are still there but can they adapt to each other's world?

Here's the trailer again:

Behold the full 'Always Be My Maybe' trailer. It is glorious.

Randall Park and Ali Wong star in the highly-anticipated Netflix romantic comedy.

Yes. Yesssssssss. We have a full trailer for Always Be My Maybe, the highly anticipated Netflix romantic comedy starring Ali Wong and Randall Park. And it is wonderful. It is beautiful. It is hilarious.

Wong and Park star as Sasha and Marcus, inseparable childhood friends. But when tragedy and hormones (and an awkward moment in the backseat of a Toyota Corolla) put a rift between them, they don't speak for 15 years. Reconnecting as adults, Sasha is now a celebrity chef opening a restaurant in San Francisco, while Marcus is a happily struggling musician still living at home and working for his dad. Though the two are reluctant to reconnect, they soon find the old sparks -- and maybe some new ones -- are there.

Ali Wong's tribute to gymnast Katelyn Ohashi is a perfect 10

'Baby Cobra' comedian's living room floor routine is significantly less gravity-defying.

You may have seen the video of UCLA gymnast Katelyn Ohashi's spectacular floor routine, which basically broke the internet. The gravity-defying performance earned her a perfect 10 and a legion of new fans.

Among Katelyn's new supporters: Ali Wong. The Baby Cobra comedian (and fellow UCLA Bruin) posted a video of herself performing a "tribute" to Ohashi's routine in what looks like her own living room, complete with a bored-looking spouse on the couch and baby gates in the background.

Let's just say that Ali's routine is significantly less gravity-defying.

Ali Wong joins the cast of 'Birds of Prey'

'Baby Cobra' comedian will play a supporting role in DC's female-centered superhero movie.

Ali Wong has nabbed a supporting role in the upcoming DC superhero movie Birds of Prey.

According to The Wrap, the Baby Cobra comedian will reportedly play an associate of Rosie Perez's Renee Montoya in the Gotham police force. I don't suppose there's any chance that she'll play a nunchuck-wielding superhero (or villain) actually named "Baby Cobra"? That would be fun.

Wong, who voiced Felony in Disney's animated hit Ralph Breaks the Internet, is currently a series regular on ABC's American Housewife, and released her second Netflix special Hard Knock Wife earlier this year. She also co-wrote and stars opposite Randall Park in the upcoming Netflix romantic comedy Always Be My Maybe.

This is really happening: Ali Wong and Randall Park's rom-com begins production. With Keanu. Whoa.

Daniel Dae Kim and Keanu Reeves round out the cast of 'Always Be My Maybe.'

That Ali Wong/Randall Park romantic comedy, once just a hypothetical dream flick sprinkled with social media-fueled fairy dust, is a real thing. The Netflix feature film has begun production, has a title -- Always Be My Maybe -- and has assembled a crazy amazing cast that includes Daniel Dae Kim and Keanu Reeves. Whoa. As if we weren't already losing our minds over this project, it's now officially our most anticipated movie of 2019.

Ali Wong and Randall Park's Netflix rom-com has a director

Fresh Off The Boat showrunner Nahnatchka Khan will make her feature film directorial debut.

This dream project just gets better and better... Fresh Off The Boat showrunner Nahnatchka Khan will make her feature film directorial debut on Netflix's untitled romantic comedy project starring Randall Park and Ali Wong.

Nahnatchka Khan to Direct Ali Wong-Randall Park Romantic Comedy Film for Netflix

We've been dying to hear some more news about this project -- previously described by Ali Wong as "our version of When Harry Met Sally" -- ever since it was just a mere social media prayer, then announced last August as an actual upcoming feature for Netflix. Now the project has a director.

We also get some new details about the story. Park and Wong's script, written with Michael Golamco, follows two childhood sweethearts who have a falling-out and don't speak for 15 years. They reconnect as adults when Sasha, now a celebrity chef opening a restaurant in San Francisco, runs into Marcus, a happily struggling musician still living at home working for his dad -- and discover the old sparks are still there.

Hell yeah. Ali Wong is writing a book.

'Baby Cobra' comedian's collection of essays will hit shelves next year.

Helllllll yeah. Ali Wong is writing a book! The American Housewife actress and Fresh Off The Boat writer, whose hilarious Netflix standup special Baby Cobra inspired a legion of kickass Halloween costumes, is adding "author" to her resume with her first book due out next year from Random House.

The book will be a collection of letters from Ali to her one-year-old daughter, offering advice and sharing her own personal experiences. It will also be, no doubt, pretty darn funny.

"Each letter will share advice and personal experiences on such things as finding Mr. Right, leaning in versus lying down, and her journey in stand-up comedy," the publisher said in a statement to Entertainment Weekly.

Everybody's going as Ali Wong for Halloween

'Baby Cobra' inspires a pretty great Halloween costume.

Talk about inspiration! This year for Halloween, a wave of Asian women (and men too) are getting dressed up as comedian Ali Wong, rocking the red specs and a black and white dress she's rocking on stage -- while seven months pregnant -- in her incredible, hilarious Netflix standup special Baby Cobra. (If you haven't seen it, what the hell are you waiting for?) Turns out Ali inspired a lot of people with a simple but great costume idea.

And Ali approves.

Randall Park Interviews Ali Wong

Guest Post by Randall Park

Ali Wong is an amazing stand up comedian, actress and a writer on our beloved sitcom Fresh Off The Boat.

She is also one of my dearest friends. I’ve known Ali since her days as a cast member of Lapu The Coyote That Cares Theater, the UCLA Asian American theater company that I co-founded many years ago. Ali and I performed sketch and improv together in seedy restaurants to audiences that can be counted on one hand. I’ve seen her go from a fellow budding (and incredibly hard working) stand-up comedian to a brilliant (and still incredibly hard working) comedy superstar with her recent Netflix special Baby Cobra.

By the way, if you haven’t seen Baby Cobra, I suggest you turn off your computer right now, turn it back on, go to Netflix and watch it IMMEDIATELY. It is, in my opinion, a comedy classic. Right up there with all the greats.

Having known Ali for all these years, I have unique access to the mind of a master at her craft. Unlike the average journalist, I can ask her the deep, personal questions that reveal the true darkness behind the laughter, the tears of a clown, if you will. So with that, here is my in depth, at times uncomfortable, interview with my friend, the great comedian Ali Wong.

Ali Wong is pregnant (and funny) as hell in 'Baby Cobra'

New one-hour standup comedy special premieres May 6 on Netflix.

How badass is Ali Wong? The standup comedian, who is on the writing staff of Fresh Off The Boat, has her first one-hour comedy special coming out exclusively on Netflix on May 6. Ali Wong: Baby Cobra was filmed last fall at The Neptune Theater in Seattle... while Ali was seven months pregnant. And looking pretty damn fabulous.

And funny as hell. Here's the trailer.

Forrest Wheeler describing a pager will make you feel old

'Fresh Off The Boat' star says it's "like an iPhone." But without a screen or apps.

As fans of Fresh Off The Boat are aware, much of the show's humor is derived from some good old-fashioned '90s nostalgia. But we sometimes forget that the show's young stars weren't even alive yet during the nineties.

On Tuesday at the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival, comedian Jenny Yang and I hosted a live screening of Fresh Off the Boat, featuring members of the show's cast and crew, including stars Forrest Wheeler, Ian Chen and Lucille Soong, writers Ali Wong and Sanjay Shah, and executive producer Melvin Mar.

During the Q&A, an audience member asked Forrest and Ian, who play brothers Emery and Evan Huang, what Fresh Off The Boat had taught them about 1990s pop culture. Forrest proceeded to describe what he had learned about pagers... and made us all feel some kind of way.

Wong will play Doris in the single-camera comedy 'The Second Fattest Housewife in Westport'

Hey, look! Friend to this blog and former Angry Reader of the Week, comedian/actress/writer Ali Wong has been cast as a series regular in the ABC comedy pilot The Second Fattest Housewife in Westport.

'Four Stars' CBS Pilot Casts Ashley Zukerman; Ali Wong In ABC's 'Second Fattest Housewife'

The single-camera comedy pilot revolves around "a (slightly) larger, strong-willed mother raising her flawed family of three in a wealthy town filled with 'perfect' wives and their 'perfect' offspring."

Ali will play Doris, "a responsible and hands-on mother who cares about things like throwing large Easter egg hunts and sending out the right Christmas cards. She doesn't fit in with the Westport Mombots, but they consistently abuse her good nature when they need help of any kind."
