This is either really cool or really kind of frightening... Hong Kong-based Enterbay, which makes premium-quality, super-detailed, lifelike action figures -- including some really awesome Bruce Lee figures -- has unveiled a forthcoming Jeremy Lin figure as part of its Real Masterpiece 1/6-scale NBA collection.

The Jeremy Lin figure is expected to come with a magnetic basketball, a cloth outfit, alternate hands, alternate heads and more. I'm guessing it'll set you back around $300. Not sure when it'll be available -- Enterbay hasn't even listed the figure on its official site yet -- but a few retailers are already taking pre-orders.

Asians behaving badly... counterfeit cash edition! You can call it a case of librarian justice. In Marin County, California, a man suspected of trying to scam librarians with counterfeit bills was arrested last week.

26-year-old Daniel Han Shi was charged with counts of burglary, forgery and counterfeiting after allegedly trying to pass a counterfeit $20 bill at the Fairfax Library. His bonehead little scam involved asking librarians around the county to break a twenty into smaller bills for the copy machine.

It didn't take too long for folks to catch wind of his scheme. Not only was Daniel a crappy counterfeiter, by the time he got around to the Fairfax branch, librarians around the county had gotten the heads up via email to watch out for this guy and his fake cash scam.

On Wednesday at Harvard Law School's commencement ceremony, graduates were given an inspirational address from one of our nation's top legal minds: Mindy Kaling. Okay, so not quite a lawyer. She doesn't even play one on television! But Kaling, writer/producer/star of The Mindy Project, took to the podium anyway. While she was short on wise words ("Celebrities give too much advice...") she made it up with humor and charm.

Man missing after jumping in river to save nephew

21-year-old Tou Hu Vang was swept away by rough currents in the St. Croix River



In Minnesota, rescue teams are searching for a missing man who was swept away on Sunday evening when he jumped into the fast-moving St. Croix River to save his 11-year-old nephew. Fortunately, the boy was saved by good samaritan who also jumped in the water, but his uncle did not resurface.

Calvin Vang was fishing at a scenic boat landing near Taylors Falls when he tripped on a rock and fell into the raging water. His uncle, 21-year-old Tou Hu Vang, jumped in the water in an attempt to rescue him, but was swept away by the rough current. Another man, described in news reports as a "good samaritan," leapt into the river and was able to pull Calvin to safety:

Asians, watch your back... In New York City, police are asking for the public's help finding a group of robbers responsible for a recent series of attacks targeting Asian people. Two to four suspects may be responsible for at least five violent street robberies in South Richmond Hill, Queens. All of the victims have been Asian.

Good news, but what happened to you, dude? Hye Min Choi, the University of Illinois student who went missing after checking in at the airport last Saturday, has been found safe and reunited with his family.

Choi, a junior majoring in mechanical engineering at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, checked his luggage at O'Hare International Airport on Saturday afternoon, but never boarded his United Airlines flight to Greensboro, North Carolina, and didn't re-book another flight.

Chicago police issued a statement earlier in the week asking for the public's help in locating Choi, but now it looks like he's okay, and reportedly in good condition. No further details were released, but it looks like he might not have wanted to go home because of school-related problems:

It's no secret that Sung Kang is one of the coolest dudes working in Hollywood. So fans will be pleased to hear that you'll be able to see him on a weekly basis, starting tonight, on the new Fox cop show Gang Related.

Set in Los Angeles, the gritty action drama follows an elite police task force engaged in the city's war between law enforcement and organized crime. Created and written by Chris Morgan, the show also stars Ramon Rodriguez, RZA, Cliff Curtis, Inbar Lavi, Terry O'Quinn and Shantel VanSanten.

Sung (sporting a haircut since we last saw him as Han in Fast & Furious) plays Tae Kim, a badass officer in the LAPD gang squad. No word if we'll be seeing him do any fancy driving on the show. But that would be awesome

Robots! Superheroes! Asians! Asians? Disney just dropped the first teaser trailer for its latest Marvel movie adaptation, and it's not quite what you might have expected... but it does look kind of fun.

Big Hero 6, based on the Marvel Comics superhero team, is the first animated Marvel feature from Walt Disney Animation Studios. Fire is the latest in a string of attacks targeting San Jose household



Who set this family's car on fire? This week in San Jose, a home security camera caught vandals lighting a family's car on fire. The arson is apparently only the latest incident in a string of attacks on this household.

Early Tuesday morning, video surveillance captured two suspects pouring a flammable liquid on a car hood and lighting a fire that destroyed two automobiles, a 2008 Acura MDX and a 2013 Honda Civic, in the driveway of a home in East San Jose. Homeowner Vince Tran was able to put out the fire with a garden hose before it spread. Thankfully, nobody was hurt.

Whoa. Meet Lucy Li. This week, the 11-year-old golfer from Redwood Shores, California made history by becoming the youngest player ever to qualify for the U.S. Women's Open. Eleven!

Eleven years old, and freaking awesome. Li, a sixth grader who began playing at the age of seven, qualified for 2014 U.S. Women's Open on Monday, shooting rounds of 74 and 68 on the par-72 Old Course at Half Moon Bay, and beating second-place qualifier Kathleen Scavo by seven strokes.

The record for youngest was previously held by Lexi Thompson, who qualified for the U.S. Women's Open -- at 12 years, 4 months, 18 days old -- in 2007. Li doesn't turn 12 until October 1.

Yesterday, the website GapDoesMore.com -- launched shortly after Gap Inc.'s annual shareholder meeting -- announced that the mega clothing chain was finally going to compensate the families of seven workers killed last year in a fire at Aswad Composite Mills, a Gap supplier in Bangladesh. According to the press release, Gap Inc. would sign the Bangladesh Accord on Fire and Building Safety.

What great news! The only thing is... GapDoesMore.com has nothing to do with Gap Inc. The website was an epic prank orchestrated by 18 Million Rising in an effort to pressure the clothier to ensure the safety and fair treatment of its workers. In reality, Gap Inc. has not taken responsibility or made any such promises.

Ingenious. The Yes Men would be proud. However, Gap did not take kindly to the fake news that it would be acting responsibly. It took the company less than three hours to get wind of the site and issue a statement decrying the "fraudulent" information on GapDoesMore.com. Gap has since managed to get the website (and its accompanying Twitter account @gapdoesmore) suspended.

University of Illinois student checked in for his flight but never boarded

In Chicago, police are asking for the public's help locating a University of Illinois student who went missing after checking luggage at O'Hare International Airport.

19-year-old Hye Min Choi, also known as Joseph Choi, checked his luggage on Saturday afternoon for a United Airlines flight to North Carolina, but has not been seen or heard from since 4:49pm that day. According to Chicago Police, he did not board his flight, and did not re-book another flight.

His luggage arrived in Greensboro, North Carolina, where his mother picked it up.

Choi, a student at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, is described as 5-feet, 6 inches tall, weighs 100 lbs., and has brown eyes and black hair. He has a scar on his right eyelid.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Area North Special Victim's Unit at (312) 744-8200.

Surveillance video shows cop hitting handcuffed woman

"You're not a f*cking American! I'll put you in a UPS box and send you back to wherever the f*ck you came from!"



Damn. Recently released surveillance video footage, recorded during the raid of a Chicago massage parlor last year, shows a police officer slapping a handcuffed woman in the head, while another officer threatens to hit her with a Taser "10 fucking times." The footage is now at the center of a federal lawsuit.

The footage shows a shrieking Jianqing Klyzek, manager of Copper Tan and Spa, pushed face down, dragged onto the floor, handcuffed, and struck in the head by an officer, identified as Frank Messina. Another officer, Gerald DiPasquale, is heard screaming racially-charged at her: "You're not a fucking American! I'll put you in a UPS box and send you back to wherever the fuck you came from!"

Sad news out of the Bay Area, where musician, educator and writer George Yoshida, best known for his passion for jazz and its unique connection with Japanese American history, died last week. He was 92.

Born in Seattle and raised in Los Angeles, Yoshida and his family were interned at Poston War Relocation Center in Arizona, along with thousands of other Japanese Americans during World War II. Permitted to take only one suitcase, he packed his with records from his treasured jazz collection.

Mark your calendars. PBS' award-winning documentary series POV kicks off its 27th season on Monday, June 23 with the national broadcast premiere of Jason DaSilva's powerful personal documentary When I Walk.

In When I Walk, up-and-coming 25-year-old filmmaker Jason DaSilva discovers he has multiple sclerosis. To cope, he decides to use the art of filmmaking to look at his new reality. The film is a candid and brave chronicle of one young man's struggle to adapt to the harsh realities of M.S. while holding on to his personal and creative life. The result is a life-affirming documentary filled with unexpected moments of joy and humor.

If you missed this incredible film during its festival run or limited theatrical screenings, here's your chance to catch it from the convenience of your couch, on public television. I can't recommend it enough.

'Private Danny Chen Way' dedicated in Chinatown

Hundreds gather for unveiling of Manhattan street re-named in memory of local soldier



On Saturday in New York City, hundreds gathered in Chinatown to honor the memory of Pvt. Danny Chen. On Elizabeth Street, between Canal Street and Bayard Street, city officials unveiled "Private Danny Chen Way," a tribute to the local soldier who fell prey to the military's dark culture of bullying and hazing.

Pvt. Danny Chen, who grew up in Chinatown, was found dead in October 2011 after enduring intolerable racial hazing and harassment from fellow soldiers while serving in Afghanistan. His death resulted in eight U.S. Army soldiers charged with various crimes, and highlighted the problem of hazing and discrimination in the military.

The city council approved the street re-naming last December. On Saturday's unveiling, Chen's mother was joined by family, friends and community members who vowed continue to remember the story of Danny Chen.

Nicknames are earned. So how does one get called "Murderleg"? By possessing one of the strongest legs in college football. At 5-foot-10, 194 pounds, Spear is also known for delivering bone-rattling hits on kick returners. Just watch...

News from the north! B.C. says sorry. Last week, the Chinese community in British Columbia received a formal apology from the provincial government for racist past policies that targeted immigrants and residents.

Chinese community gets apology from B.C. for historical wrongs

On Thursday, British Columbia's premier Christy Clark issued the apology, aiming to make amends for more than a hundred historical laws, regulations and policies that discriminated against people of Chinese descent since the 1870s, such as denying immigrants the right to vote and charging them a head tax to immigrate.

There was no individual compensation offered as part of the apology, but it was announced that the government would put $1 million into a legacy fund that would be used to fund educational initiatives.

Fund This: 'Good Luck Soup Interactive'

A participatory documentary on the post-internment story of Japanese Americans & Japanese Canadians



Good Luck Soup is a transmedia storytelling project documenting and sharing stories about the lives of Japanese Americans and Japanese Canadians after they left internment camps at the end of World War II.

The project, from filmmaker Matthew Hashiguchi, involves a feature-length documentary, but also includes a web-based, interactive component to complement, reinforce, and encourage participation in the larger effort to preserve this history through social media, participatory storytelling and community events.

Filming for the documentary is complete, but they're currently raising funds for the development of the Good Luck Soup Interactive film/website. Here's a video with some more information about the project:

Woman charged with hate crime in Walmart crowbar attack

4-year-old girl and her father were targeted because they are Asian



What the hell? This week in San Jose, a woman was arrested and faces hate crime charges after assaulting a 4-year-old girl and her father with a tire iron at a Walmart. Authorities say the attack was racially-motivated, and the victims were targeted because they are of Asian descent.

San Jose: Woman in Wal-Mart child attack targeted Asians, prosecutors say

20-year-old Maria Garate, who is described as a transient, faces one charge each of attempted murder and one count of assault with a deadly weapon -- both with hate crime enhancements -- after attacking a young Asian girl and her father while they were shopping at a Walmart store in East San Jose on Tuesday.

Garate reportedly approached the girl and hit over the head, then hit her father when he got in the way. According to prosecutors, the attack was "premeditated, willful and deliberate" and the victims were indeed targeted because they're Asian:

Suspect arrested in fatal beating of 68-year-old man

The family of Wen Hui Ruan want his murder treated as a hate crime



In New York City, an update on this awful case... Police have arrested and charged a suspect in the brutal beating death of a 68-year-old man in Manhattan's East Village on Friday night. According to investigators, the vicious sidewalk attack might have been an attempted robbery.

Arrest Made in Fatal Beating of 68-Year-Old

20-year-old Jamie Pugh was taken into custody and charged with murder, robbery and assault for the fatal attack on Wen Hui Ruan. Surveillance video of the incident shows Pugh approaching Ruan, yelling at him, and throwing him against a wall. He then punched and kicked Ruan in the head before walking away.

Mr. Ruan, a retired garment worker who lived around the corner from the attack, suffered a fractured skull and face after Pugh stomped on him at least three times. He died from his injuries the next day.

Police detectives took Pugh in custody based on a tip that he was in the neighborhood:

ABC picks up 'Selfie' with John Cho

Half-hour, single-camera comedy is modern-day re-imagining of 'My Fair Lady'



Fans of John Cho will be happy to hear that he'll back on the tube soon in yet another show next season... This fall, you'll see the Harold & Kumar and Star Trek actor starring opposite Doctor Who's Karen Gillam in the comedy series Selfie, picked up for ABC's 2014-15 primetime schedule.

The half-hour, single-camera comedy, from Suburgatory creator Emily Kapnek, is a modern-day re-imagining of My Fair Lady, with Cho as the Henry Higgins character. He plays Henry, a self-assured marketing expert who decides to "re-market" his coworker Eliza Dooley, a social media star with a bad reputation.
